Sultanpur Lodhi, established in 1499 became the Sikh center during Guru Nanak Dev time in Kapurthala District, Punjab (India).

Gurudwara Shri Guru Ka Baag


Gurudwara Shri Guru Ka Baag is located in the town of Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district.for 14 years Guru Nanak spent in Sultanpur Lodhi as a young man working for Nawab Daulat Khan Lodhi. This was Guru Nanak's house where his two sons Baba Sri Chand and Baba Lakhmi Chand were born. Guru Nanak tested his two sons, but neither of them proved worthy to become his successor. Baba Lakhmi Chand was too involved in worldly affairs, while Baba Sri Chand chose the path of renunciation and became an aesthete. Guru Sahib had the langar prepared for him by Bibi Nanaki ji. There is also a well (Khooh) here, the water of which was used for langar preparation.

Gurudwara Ber Sahib


Gurudwara Ber Sahib, the main shrine of Sultanpur, is located on the banks of the Kali Bein river, half a kilometer west of the old town. Gurudwara Ber Sahib was built on the side of an ancient Ber tree, believed to be the tree under which Guru Nanak sat in meditation. The present building of Gurudwara Ber Sahib was built by Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala. The cornerstone was laid by Bhai Arjan Singh of Bagarian on 25 February 1937, and the Gurudwara was on completion dedicated by Lieutenant General Maharaja Yadavinder Singh of Patiala on 26 January 1941.
